Does music motivate you? It’s an important part of my life. Recently we’ve been assembling playlists for different occasions on Spotify. My daughter loves her neon dance music list. My son is digging his “Action Cole,” list of high energy rock and roll. I like to think we’re a music family and I know the soundtrack of our lives influences our mood in a positive way.
Now I often work using an online tool called Focus@Will that the site describes as
“…a new neuroscience based music service that helps you focus, reduce distractions and retain information when working, studying, writing and reading. The technology is based on hard science and proven to be extremely effective at extending your attention span.”
Not only does music feed our souls, it’s scientifically proven to enhance our ability to concentrate and focus on the task at hand. Four years ago I posted Music is a Moral Law which included the quote from Plato,
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything; It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good, just, and beautiful.”
Take your day a little higher with one of my favorites from Creed:
Does Music motivate you? Feed your soul? Tell me how music is in your life!

You are right on. I love music. It is funny how we
are each drawn to different music. My husband insists on his 80’s vibe,
I love folk music and stuff from the 30’s and 40’s. Gwen likes bands
from England. But in the end we are all moved by it. I love this
article a friend posted last week. http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2012/08/10/power-of-music-animated/
Agreed. Music keeps me going throughout the day and definitely helps me concentrate and focus. But Creed? Dude…even Jesus hates Creed…
